Sometimes you just have to sit still and wait for stuff to happen. It doesn't always happen, but if you're quiet and a little patient, your chances of seeing something worth shooting go up.
Looking for pictures for this blog is often as rewarding as finding them. Today I was at the river in Waterloo, slow roasting under the afternoon sun when I saw a mallard pair preening at the edge of the water. I made a few frames and started to walk toward them. They looked at me, finished grooming and made a lazy waddle back into the current.
I sat in the shade on a rock and looked around to see what else could make a picture. A few small fish picking off bugs brought my attention to the water and the reflection of the perfect summer sky. I sat a little longer, quietly enjoying the break from the heat. And then the ducks came back.
