I love looking for graphic patterns in nature. Today I spent a half hour crouched next to some grass growing in the shallows of the river in Kitchener. The grass grew in clumps, which were spaced in various distances from the shore where I sat staring at them through a 300mm lens. As I turned the focus ring, blades of grass that were once sharp would blur and dissolve as others appeared from the backlight of the river. With each resolving blade came a new element to the geometry of the image. Once I had a pattern I liked, I waited for a focal point to tie it together. In this case, bugs.
