As I was saying, it's always dangerous to judge an album on one listen.
So I mustered up the courage and took the new/old Van Halen album - A Different Kind of Truth - with David Lee Roth on lead vocals out for a test drive on second listen. Yeah. In the car. The way albums should be heard. So after 1.5 listens, or thereabouts, managed five tracks during my trip out to get food, this one has a chance. A good chance. It kinda smokes! It's embedding itself in my brain.
So I'm liking "She's the Woman" "You and Your Blues", "Chinatown" and "Bullethead" so far as these new/old tunes take shape in my mind. And boy, isn't it a good thing they reworked old tunes rather than trying to write new ones?
So, it's got a chance, this new Van Halen vehicle. But only in the car. Do not listen at home.
Actually, I haven't listened to it since this post, so I don't really know anymore. That's the thing with new albums, one tends to give them a listen or two and unless they really strike you, you go back to your regular rotation, it seems. - Karlo/Blogovich

Ok. It's typical VH. But there are no real catchy tunes but the lead track. Maybe I'm being too generous?

So, the thing's out on CD? That was quicker than I expected.
