The first day of school is fun and exciting. But it can also be nerve-wracking for students and parents. Courtney Wilson hugged her daughter's stuffed animal, Kresser the bunny after Abby didn't want to hold it anymore. Abby, who's 5, is going into Grade 1 at Jean Steckle Public School.
Mom appeared fine until I asked her how she was doing.
"My girl is all grown up," she said, as tears welled up in her eyes.
Well, that started the flood for the both of us. I cried too. I dropped my daughter off at university residence on Sunday morning. I was cool as I helped her unpack and excited to meet her roommate. But when it came to saying goodbye and giving her a hug, I broke down.
I warned Courtney - be prepared that you'll be crying a few more times over the years.
