High school hoops mania

A very busy weekend on the court.

Senior boys basketball teams from all over Ontario were in Waterloo Region for a pair of tournaments.

The Southwood tourney saw Brantford North Park defeat Toronto Runnymede 45-40 in the final.

Over at the Vikes/Knights tournament in Waterloo, it was Brampton Notre Dame over Stoney Creek's Orchard Park 58-56 in the championship.

George Johnson led the winners with 24 points while Paul Lamarra chipped in 13. Taylor Black had 10 for OP.

And those Resurrection juniors keep winning. Make if four junior boys tourney wins in a row for the Phoenix, who took the St. Joseph's Rams/St. Thomas Shoot Out.

Rez beat St. Anne's from Tecumseh 94-36 in the final. And get this, they did it without big man Andew Mwangi who had family obligations. Mike Periera stepped up big time in absence of his teammate. The squad is now 23-0.
