Time to take another trip down memory lane.
I was digging through some old pictures and found this one of Onnie Mayshak back in 2000.
Who knew that Waterloo Region had its own Shak?
This is just before the former St. Benedict student left for a scholarship at Harvard. Not sure what ever became of him but he was obviously a very smart dude to get into the Ivy League school.
He was listed anywhere from 6-foot-7 to two inches taller. Built too. Not the kind of guy you like to guard on the court, that's for sure.
He led St. Benedict to two District 8 titles and took home a pair of league MVPs as well. The Saints haven't seen that kind of success since he left.
From reading old stories, it sounds like he was a gentle spirit and a tough competitor. Would have love to have seen him play.
