Congratulations to Chris Albrecht of Bluevale, the 2009 winner of the Mark Harper Award, which is given to the most valuable player in the Waterloo County senior boys rugby league. Albrecht, of course, played a major role as the Knights reached the second round at the recent Ontario championships.
Andrew McWhinnie of Sir John A. Macdonald has received the Tyler Schmidt Award which goes out to the MVP in the junior boys league.

Lesia Bandura, Kirsten Behm, Rebecca Sanzsole of the District 8 champion St. Mary's Eagles were named to the league's girls soccer all-star team this week.
The first-team squad also includes Suzanne Boroumand, Emily Deckert and Caitlin Moser of Resurrection, Meaghan Mason and Kassandra Fernandes of St. Benedict, Isabel Alba and Lindsey Hickey of St. David, Kylie Bordeleau of Pere Rene, Steph Fast of Rockway, and April Passchier of Woodland Christian.

Southwood's Chisomo Mchaina competed at the Festival of Excellence track and field meet at Varsity Stadium in Toronto last night, as did Resurrection's 4x400 girls relay team.

The all-star pictures are scheduled to be taken tomorrow at Bluevale, so I guess we'll have to wait until then to find out. I guess it will remain a mystery until then.
