The dates and times have been set for WCSSAA and District 8 championship and semifinal games. I've also added, just for fun, my predictions. Feel free to comment but please be nice.
WCSSAA
Girls rugby championship
Tuesday, 4:30 p.m.
KCI at Bluevale
Bryson's pick: The Knights handled the Raiders 22-5 during the regular season and look to be a lock to repeat as champions.
Boys rugby semifinals
Tuesday
St. Mary's at Bluevale, 4:30 p.m.
Bryson's pick: The Knights are aiming for their fourth straight title, but will face a stiff test against the Eagles. St. Mary's will benefit from playing in a much tougher division and should have enough gas left to edge the champions.
SJAM at WCI, 3:30 p.m.
The Highlanders have rolled through the playoffs since ending the regular season with an 18-12 win over the Vikings. I'm expected an SJAM-St. Mary's final.
Junior boys
WCI at Bluevale, 3:30 p.m.
Waterloo-Oxford at SJAM, 3:30 p.m.
Bryson's picks: Bluevale and SJAM.
Girls soccer semifinals
KCI at Grand River, 3:30 p.m.
Bryson's pick: The Renegades have been rolling all season, even with star player Leticia Skeete out of the lineup. They're my pick to go all the way.
Forest Heights at WCI, 3:30 p.m.
Bryson's pick: The Vikings spanked the Trojans 6-0 on May 8. That's too much of a hill to climb.
Boys soccer semifinals
Grand River at Eastwood, 3:30 p.m.
Bryson's pick: I've been on the Rebels' bandwagon since Day 1 and that's not about to change now.
Cameron Heights at WCI, 3:30 p.m., Bechtel Park
Bryson's pick: The Vikings downed the Gaels 2-0 on May 10. Look for more of the same.
DISTRICT 8
Girls rugby championship
Tuesday, 3:30 p.m.
St. Mary's at Resurrection
Bryson's pick: The Phoenix have defeated the Eagles twice this season including a 31-5 win on May 7. Rez will breeze to its 10th consecutive title.
Girls soccer championship
Wednesday, 2 p.m., St. David
St. Mary's vs Resurrection
Bryson's pick: The Phoenix rolled through the regular season and playoffs, including a 3-0 win over the Eagles on April 30. St. Mary's championship streak ends at three.
Boys soccer championship
Wednesday, 4 p.m., St David
Monsignor Doyle vs. Resurrection
Bryson's pick: The Phoenix downed the Mustangs 4-1 on April 25 and some observers think they might be the top team in Waterloo Region. I'm not sure about that, but they have enough to tame the Mustangs.

unfortunately, as a wci fan I am expecting us to get hammered similarly to how we buckled in the boys hockey quarter-final (mercied 10-0 in less that 2 periods). St. Mary's is just too strong

hopefulley that works. it is a satellite image of the fence to the road.

@cam Relax, as a follower of highschool sports this happens all the time. You must be some kind of saintly individual if you never used profanity as a teenage athlete during intense competition. As far as peeing is concerned, when you gotta go, you gotta go. Grow up. It would be physically impossible to reach the road with a stream of urine from the fence. there is no need for discipline for these kids.

@Cam I was also at this game and I did not find the St.Mary's behaviour too bad at all. Sure yes they were peeing against the fence, but if youve ever been in a big sporting event in your life youd understand the pre game jitters you get which make you have to go to the bathroom. With game time immenent where else should they have gone? Ran inside the school and miss the beginning of the game? Sorry but these kids are high school athletes and some leeway has to be given there. As for the swearing, youve got it all wrong, the St.Mary's coach did not swear at all that was the players in the huddle on the field for the pre game pump up. If you yourself have ever played in a intense sport like Football, Hockey, or Rugby expletives are sometimes used when athletes get fired up. Its nothing out of the ordinary

@Cam - It's nice to read that you're very upset by the events you've described. It's easy to write and post it here on a HS Sports Blog. If what you have described truly happened the way in which you have depicted, then do what any truly upset, and responsible, parent should do: Call the Principal at St. Mary's, let him or her know what happened and that you find the behaviour completely unacceptable at the HS level.
I find it hard to believe that there wouldn't be severe repercussions for a coach (teacher?) and players uttering the kinds of profanity you are referring to, never mind the group leak at the fence.
If this truly happened, shame on St. Mary's Rugby. If your reaction is to simply post your outrage here and not to those in charge, shame on you.

You're right the score was close but I'm talking about the beating the D laid on the Mary's O. Kids were scared to go on the field because of the hits they were taking.....it was almost dangerous! If it was a fight the ref would have stopped it!

As a parent who was at Bluevale watching the Senior boys rugby game I was very upset by the behaviour of the St Mary's coach and players. At the start of the game the players all stood at the fence facing the hwy onramp and proceeded to pee to passing traffic. After this the coach for St Mary's led the team in a cheer that was disgusting. They were chanting "We are going to F*#$ing take them down" and they kept repeating this. During the game the coach often yelled the profanity to the players. I am upset at the lack of disrespect towards the Bluevale team and the fans. This is unacceptable for any High School team let alone a Catholic School. I think that it is a disrespect that such behaviour has been rewarded to represent our Region.

Pounded eh? If I recall the game was tied in the 4th quarter with less then 5 minutes to go, not quite the definition of pounding there bud

What a day for Vikings sports- Boys and Girls soccer both get to the finals....as well as a trip to the Senior Boys Rugby Final.
Vikings pounded Mary's in football.....tap out style, going to do the same in Rugby!!

Yeah baby!! WCSSAA championship is going to be ours! Its time to get some revenge on those dusty vikings

I think WCSSAA soccer semis should be played over two legs (aggregate). With top teams playing for CWOSSA berths, a single game semi-final isn't enough.
Play the semis Tues & Thurs, have a weekend off for WCSSAA final next Monday or Tuesday then get ready for CWOSSA on the weekend.
... Just my 2 cents.
Predictions:
Eastwood 2-1 Grand River
Waterloo 2-3 Cameron Heights

district 8 final should be a great one! Rez has the players to win it but Doyle has probably the best goalie in the region.
