District 8 athletic coordinator Mike Grobe tells me the five boys hockey teams from Catholic schools are competing in what we'll call a CWOSSA qualifying tournament.
The teams -- St. David, St. Mary's, Resurrection, Monsignor Doyle and St. Benedict -- will play in a double round-robin tournament to seed four teams that will move on to a single-elimination playoff tournament.
The winner will move on to the next level although that could change when CWOSSA announces how many teams it will accept into its OFSAA qualifer. It could be just one team but it could be more ... we just don't know at this point.
Once again, stay tuned.

Just wondering if with the repeel of Bill 115 if the rest of the public boards teams will hit the ice after exams, maybe have a tournmament to see who would move on to Wcssaa final and then goto OFFSA

Just some food for thought at this interesting time in WCSSAA history... How come, with respect, the Catholic schools seem to always have to be part of WCSSAA, until the moment that WCSSAA isn't operating? Perhaps once ECs return to the public schools, the D-8 schools can continue operating on their own? They seem to be able to cope right now. Yes, I realize I'm stirring a different pot, but this has been an ongoing issue here for several years...
