It can't be called an upset at this stage of the season but the Elmira Lancers raised a few eyebrows on Thursday with their 30-22 win over the Sir John A. Macdonald Highlanders in WCSSAA senior boys football league play.
I wasn't at the game so I can't provide specifics but it would appear the two-time defending champions are in tough to defend their title as one week earlier they narrowly escaped with a 24-21 win over the Preston Panthers.
It's the second consecutive win for the Lancers, who opened the season with a 28-14 win over WCI.
In another game of note, the Jacob Hespeler Hawks rolled to an easy 54-13 win over the St. Benedict Saints.
The Hawks have now scored 112 points in just two games and look to be the class of Division A1.
