Dylan Ruiz of the Huron Heights Huskies continued his torrid start to the WCSSAA senior boys soccer schedule with three goals in a 5-1 win Monday over the KCI Raiders. Ruiz now has eight goals in two games after scoring five in a Week 1 victory over Jacob Hespeler.
After just two rounds of play, the Sir John A. Macdonald Highlanders are the only squad in the eight-team Premier Division with a 2-0 mark. SJAM, which next plays WCI on Thursday, has wins over Forest Heights and Eastwood.
Huron Heights and the Galt Ghosts are both 2-0 in First Division play. Those teams meet next Wednesday.
Meanwhile, it's crowded at the top of the WCSSAA girls rugby league standings with four undefeated teams remaining after three rounds of games. Waterloo-Oxford tops the list with a 3-0 mark, followed by Bluevale, Grand River, and two-time defending champion KCI at 2-0.
Waterloo-Oxford, which is off Thursday when the schedule resumes, will next play Monday against KCI in a rematch of last year's final.
District 8 soccer kicks off today with boys and girls games scheduled to take place.
