Emanuel Otong, Glenview Park: The fifth-year player scored 27 points in a 63-57 win over Southwood and 15 in a 64-51 win over SJAM as the Panthers improved to 4-0 in the WCSSAA senior boys basketball league. Last year, he won the dunk competition at the WCSSAA all-star game and was also an all-star in volleyball. He was a WCSSAA champion in the high jump and finished 10th at OFSAA. Josiah Davis, Huron Heights: The Grade 9 student scored 30 points in a 73-62 win over Cameron Heights and 36 in a 66-51 win over Preston as the Huskies improved to 4-0 in the WCSAA junior boys basketball league. The six-footer plays for Hamilton in the Nike UPlay Canada league and competed for the junior boys volleyball team at Huron Heights..
Tyreece Lalor, St. David: The Grade 10 student scored 26 points in a 69-48 win over Rockway and had 20 in a 59-54 loss to Phoenix as the Celtics ended the week with a 3-1 record in the District 8 senior boys basketball league.
Leah Stewart, Forest Heights: The Grade 11 middle was at her best as the Trojans improved to 6-0 iin the WCSSAA senior girls volleyball league standings with wins over Galt, Preston and KCI. She plays for the Waterloo Tigers outside of school and will be a player to watch as the Trojans take aim at a WCSSAA title.
Sahrung Sehra, Huron Heights: The fifth-year centre had back-to-back two-goals games as the Huskies opened their WCSSAA boys hockey league campaign with a 4-3 win over Galt and a 9-5 win over Grand River. A former rep player in Kitchener, he hopes to attend university next year.
Julia Spitzig, St. Mary’s: The Grade 12 forward scored twice as the Eagles opened their District 8 girls hockey schedule with a 5-1 win over Resurrection. She plays for the Cambridge Rivulettes of the Provincial Women’s Hockey League outside of school.
