Colleen Jones was inducted in the Curling Hall of Fame in 1989 well before her biggest successes with Kim Kelly Mary Anne Arsenault and Nancy Delahunt.
Curling Canada announced today the latter three will be inducted into the hall as well. Five champ titles in six years starting in 1999 the last in 2004. (A bronze in 2006)
As great as Jones was, it was having these three players in front of her that made this team unbeatable and contenders for a long time.
I was always impressed with the shot-making ability of Kim Kelly and found the team dynamic interesting with Delahunt throwing lead stones but holding the broom for Jones.
Based on the past few years we can also understand the value Arsenault had with the rink as we watch her continue to make great shots throwing last rock representing Nova Scotia at the Tournament of Hearts.
When is it considered right to be put into the Hall. Jones was in a decade before winning five more national titles. Glenn Howard has been in since 1991..but Stoughton isn't there yet, a three-time Brier champ? Am I wrong? What is all this based on?
How come when I go to the Curling Canada Hall of Fame website there's no Kevin Martin there yet?
