BURLINGTON - The Kitchener Panthers defeated the Burlington Bandits in a 11-9 victory in Wednesday night's Intercounty Baseball League action.
Kitchener jumped ahead to a 10-2 lead in the fourth, but Burlington battled back. A two-run home run in the ninth inning by Burlington's Daniel Peake put the Bandits within two, but Kitchener held on for the win.
Kitchener's Matt McGovern was the winning pitcher, and Tanner Nivins had the winning run: a homer that put the Panthers ahead and started a parade of batters that led to an eight-run fourth inning.
The Panthers, now 10-8 this season, will have little time to celebrate. The front-running Brantford Red Sox (20-4) visit Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Jack Couch Park.
