First-off, props to UW volleyballer, Joanna Meltzer, named her school’s female athlete of the week.

 

The

Georgetown

, Ont. native paced her Warriors with seven kills, two service aces and 12 digs as UW claimed a straight-set victory over Lakehead recently.

 

Those mighty Warriors remain atop the Ontario West division, tied with Mac, heading into the stretch.

 

In a splendid tribute to his recently-departed grampa, UW’s Luke Kieswetter poured in a career-high 21 points en route to his basketball Warriors’ 72-54 win over

Guelph

.

 

For Kieswetter’s efforts, he was likewise named UW’s athlete of the week.

 

MAKE MINE A DOUBLE-DOUBLE

 

Across the street at Laurier, Max Allin and Whitney Rich get the nod as athletes of the week.

 

Rookie of the year candidate Allin notched back-to-back double-doubles in a 25-point victory over

Guelph

and in a loss to Western.

 

Rich, undefeated in the 50- and 100-metre breast stroke this season, copped four first-place finishes at a recent meet in

Guelph

.
