Kitchener Rangers goalie John Gibson talked about one of his mentors this week - U.S. goalie coach Joe Exter.
The pair met in USA Hockey's development program two years ago and have remained in touch since then.
Exter's story is incredible. The former Merrimack College goalie suffered a near fatal accident in a hockey game and was in a coma for 10 days before eventually returning to the game.
He now works at Ohio State and is an assistant coach for Team USA for the upcoming World Junior tournament.
