Several moments from this past season stick out, some more than others.
After some thought, I've compiled 10 highlights from the 2011-12 campaign and will list them on the blog in the next few weeks.
Let's have at it.
No. 10 - The kid gets the call
Zachary Shomphe grew up as a Kitchener Rangers fan.
So imagine his delight, when his dad called him in math class at Forest Heights to tell him to get his pads, because the club needed an emergency backup goalie that night against the Guelph Storm.
As it turned out, goalie John Gibson was a late scratch with a lower back injury.
Shomphe, 17, and all of 133 pounds, was in awe as he took warmup. He never saw any action, but just dressing and being ready to step in was enough.
Kitchener beat the Storm 6-1, but more importantly Shomphe realized a dream.
