First, a nod to Kitchener Rangers goalie John Gibson, who made the U.S. world junior camp. No surprise there, as he'll likely be the team's starter. But a nice coup nonetheless.
Now, on to more season highlights.
No. 9 - Rieder rocks Oktoberfest
The timing was perfect.
It was the first night of Oktoberfest in Kitchener and Rangers' German import Tobias Rieder did his celebrating on the ice.
As revelers rejoiced in the streets, the sharp shooting winger had his own party at the Aud with a hat trick in Kitchener's 4-1 win over the Saginaw Spirit on Oct. 7.
Fans went on to witness a career year for Rieder, who scored 42 goals in the regular season and added another 13 in the playoffs.
But three on Oktoberfest? You can't make this stuff up.
