Ryan Hanes, we hardly knew ya.
It's so long to the Kitchener Rangers overager, who was sent to Kingston for a seventh round pick in next year's draft.
Hanes had no points in nine games, but was known more for his stay at home approach than his offensive abilities.
Coach/GM Steve Spott said he was happy with Hanes' play but wants to get his young rearguards more ice time. Hanes has missed the past five games with a shoulder injury but is expected to return next week.
That means more minutes for Jared Gilbert, Cory Genovese and Owen Stewart.
Kitchener obtained Hanes from Sudbury for an eighth-round pick in the pre-season.
The Rangers are down to two OA players - forward Nick Czinder and Domenic Alberga.
Spott says he will definitely fill the slot. He's consider another forward in the right deal, but said it'll likely be another defenceman.
