Kitchener Rangers rookie Justin Bailey skated in the top prospects game yesterday in Halifax. Teammate Radek Faksa dressed in the annual match last year.
Bailey played on a line with Max Domi and Bo Horvat of the London Knights. Maybe some of the magic that saw the Knights win 24 consecutive games will rub off on the Buffalo kid.
No points for Bailey but his Team Orr won 3-0.
If you are a faithful blog/Twitter follower then you know Wednesday was a good one for coach/GM Steve Spott.
The bench boss was hit with a trifecta of good news when he found out that Faksa, goalie John Gibson and forward Matt Puempel will all return to action Friday. Faksa and Gibson were sent home from their respective NHL camps while Puempel is set to return from an injured shoulder.
It's just a matter of time before blueliner Frank Corrado joins the bunch. As mentioined yesterday, the Canucks have nine defenceman in camp with NHL experience.
Meanwhile, the battle for spots on the Carolina Hurricanes' roster is heating up. Blueliner Bobby Sanguinetti has played well for the 'Canes farm team in the AHL and will get a good look. That means more competition for Kitchener defenceman Ryan Murphy, who is still holding his own.
The 'Canes have eight rearguards currently in camp. Coach Kirk Muller says his last d-pairing is still up in the air.
Thursday morning, the Vancouver Canucks confirmed that Corrado is still in camp.
UPDATE: Corrado is coming back to Kitchener and expected to suit up Friday.
