Kitchener native Derek Schoenmakers will finally don his hometown sweater.
The overager forward, long rumoured to join the Rangers, was officially traded to Kitchener today for overage forward Nick Czinder along with an eighth round pick in 2013 and fourth round pick in 2015.
Kitchener also gets a 10th round selection in 2013 in the deal.
Schoenmakers was dealt to Peterborough earlier this season from Windsor but refused to report. He had recently joined Wilfrid Laurier University's varsity squad.
He had nine goals and four assists in 24 games for the Spits.
Czinder had nine points in 31 games for the Rangers.
