Former forward Shawn Burr passed away Monday night. He was 47.
Burr played for Kitchener from 1983-86 and was known for his knack around the net, as well as his sense of humour.
The Sarnia native scored 41 goals as a rookie in the OHL and had an incredible 60 goals and 67 assists in his final year at the Aud.
Burr had been battling acute myelogenous leukemia for the past three years and sustained massive brain trauma after falling in his Michigan home earlier this year, according to reports.
Burr was picked seventh overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1984 NHL draft. He played parts of 16 seasons in the NHL with the Red Wings, Tampa Bay and San Jose.
