Ah, the good ol' first game.
It's a great time of the year. So much hope. The entire season ahead. Anything is possible.
And what a treat it was for fans.
The first glimpse of the young crew was so promising.
The team doubled Saginaw 4-2. Darby Llewellyn potted a pair while Justin Bailey and Matia Marcantuoni added singles.
The offence was rolling and fired 56 shots on Spirit goalie Jake Paterson.
But it wasn't just the sheer number of shots that impressed. It was how they came about.
The game was wide open. There were drop passes, skillful stickwork and creativity oozed.
Sadly, it didn't last.
But for one night, it appeared as though the Rangers were going to be a surprise team in the western conference.
