It was a definite change in routine.
Normally on game days, Kole Sherwood leisurely heads over to the Aud for a morning skate.
Things were different Wednesday.
The Kitchener Rangers arrived at the Erie Insurance Arena just after breakfast for a school-day game against the Erie Otters.
Hundreds of screaming elementary school kids were ready and waiting when the puck dropped at 10:30 for the team's lone morning start this season.
"I've never done that before," said Sherwood. "It was obviously different.
"I usually don't like sleep more than an hour and a half before a game. I slept for a good eight hours before this one. You just have to get a meal in you and not think about it too much."
Maybe Kitchener should consider hosting a school-day game of its own as the morning action woke up the team's stagnant offence.
