Phil Collins, a gorilla and chocolate
By Ben Gelinas
So I'm sitting in a dark Galaxy theatre, waiting for No Country For Old Men to make me think (it did), when an advertisement for Dairy Milk chocolate bars starts to play:
On YouTube this ad prompted one user named sourshak to remark: "Best Advert Ever Made, Have No Clue Why? Lol <3"
I second this sentiment.
Lol <3 indeed.
The ad was memorable, but the product being pitched -- not so much. I kept trying to remember what the hell the product was. Just something about advertising today that bugs me.
By the way, what did you think about the ending of No Country for Old Men (without spoiling for others)?
When I saw it the crowd actually uttered this gutteral groan when the credits started rollling.

I had a similar experience.
When the screen went black there were groans all over, and a girl in front of me said: "What was that movie about?"
Here's what the film meant to me: despite how we may feel in control of our own life and confident in our ability to affect and change the lives of others, ultimately others have the same power over us.
Also the story worked hard to tear down crime cliches we've come to accept as inevitabilities, something I appreciated.
