OK, I had a little bus-rack fear. What if if bounced out? What if the bus rear-ends something? What if another passenger walks away with my bike?
A catastrophic flat late in the evening -- too pooped to change it -- sent me to the nearest bus stop for the route home. I used the rack, although since it was late and there were few passengers, the driver said I could bring the bike on board.
Easy. No bouncing. No rear-ending. No theft.
Driver said I was the first person today on that route to use the rack. Some routes see more bike-rack use, from people who bike commute to the nearest bus stop, then bike commute from wherever they are let off. Also more use on Sundays, when some bus routes aren't available. Makes sense. Extends a cyclist's reach, and handy in emergencies.
Now, to the pay-phone money and repair kit in my seat bag, I'll have to add a bus ticket.
