Sometimes, I just get too serious about cycling. So it is good to be reminded that cycling really is about fun on the road, be that a solo experience or a shared experience with friends.
The Toronto Cyclists Union is trying to tap into the fun side of cycling with its Fundraiser Cocktail and Masquerade on Wednesday at the Steamwhistle Brewery in Toronto. Details are here, but in brief: two prices, $100 single, $150 a couple for the full evening, including finger food, silent auction, open bar etc, from 6 p.m. on, and $25 single and $40 a couple from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., raffle, cash bar, mingling. Throughout, live music (coming to hear Molly Johnson at the 6 p.m. event is worth the price of admission) and networking with the cycle-interested.
Masks are optional, but compulsory if you are there to have fun.
The intention is raise money for the Toronto Cyclists Union, which is emerging as a louder voice than just for Toronto. If you want to support the union, but can't make it to the event, they would delighted to accept your donation.
