Games lanes open in London

When there's enough support for something, it happens.

If you had asked the motoring pubic in London a year ago if they would tolerate a narrowing of their road surface to accommodate another dedicated travel lane, I am sure they would have said the same thing that some would say on this side of the water: "There's not enough room now!"

So it was with amusement that I saw this photo (by Dan Kitwood of Getty images) on the wire, of the official "Games Lanes" that are being opened on the M-4 highway from Heathrow into central London and in other parts of London for the Olympics.

If there is the political will and enough support, these things can happen. It is, after, just a piece of pavement. You can use it however you want.
