I can't say that this is the most sensible attempt at an alternative material for bicycle manufacture.
But it is rather inventive. These photos, taken by Tom Graver for McClatchy-Tribune, show the fine efforts of home-schooled bicycle-building prodigy Collin Graver, of Avondale, Ga.
Apparently, he has an efficient home-schooling program, that allows him time to build a bicycle of plywood.
What I want to know is: splinters?
