If you have the chance, have a look at the shiny new bike lanes on Highland Road between Stirling Avenue and Hoffman in Kitchener.
That section of Highland was resurfaced and recurbed, and as a part of the project, just as Kitchener said it would, the city added bike lanes (and designated street parking) to the overall package.
Those bike lanes make a beeline to Queen Elizabeth Public School, and my first thought was: the last stretch of a bike train. I could imagine small groups of cycling students feeding in to the bike lanes and heading to and from school. Yes!
Here's some infrastructure for an Active and Safe Route to School. Now we just need a few cycling parents to conduct the trains.
