HAMILTON, Ont. – Wilfrid Laurier’s new quarterback Evan Pawliuk passed for 276 yards and a pair of touchdowns as his Golden Hawks downed the McMaster Marauders 30-14 in Saturday’s Ontario University Athletics Conference football action.
Laurier’s returner and receiver Dillon Heap collected an awe-inspiring 420 all-purpose yards in a massive effort.
It was Laurier’s ninth straight win over Mac.
The Golden Hawks’ new-look defence went without both starting defensive ends, though they pitched a shutout as Mac scored all its points on either defence or special teams.
Laurier’s starters on the D-line Chima Ihekwoaba and Kyle Ardill missed Saturday’s game due to injury and illness, respectively.
Mike Montoya rushed 100 yards on 22 carries for Laurier.
Laurier got receiving touchdowns from Alex Anthony and Shamawd Chambers. Pawliuk also rushed for a TD before 3,219 at Ron Joyce, Stadium.
The 3-1 Hawks entertain the Ottawa Gee-Gees next Saturday.
In other OUA action, the Waterloo Warriors celebrated their Homecoming in style, with a resounding 49-0 romp over Windsor Lancers at Warrior Field.
