Kinda like discussions on butt care. Non cyclists simply can never understand....

Good thing I don't seem to get a runny nose while riding in the winter. That's a good thing - none of these methods work when you're riding a recumbent!

Bill

Can't do this on a recumbent! I had no idea. And with that laid-back seating, the stuff would just drip down your throat . . . Yuck!

OMG I love this post! I thought I was the only one. This is why I stuff a hanky/tissue into my Seirus half-face mask. My next line of defense is a hanky/tissue stuffed into the backstrap of my mitts/gloves. At the peril of discouraging those of more fragile constitutions, can we please discuss other more practical survival techniques? And I'm wondering if only contact-lens wearers experience this? I tend to 'water' more when I'm not wearing glasses.

Hey, the snot rockets also made it into the Toronto Star - http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/transportation/article/748469--porter-hard-core-cyclists-do-not-fear-winter

I was telling the journalist, Catherine Porter, about the email I got from you about them - looks as though it made it into the piece ;)

I'd also like to add that I often use a hanky rather than disposable tissues.

Jeff S.

Mona, your eyes are probably watering more with contacts because your glasses protect your eyes from the effects of the cold winter air. Have you tried wearing contacts and a pair of cycling goggles or sunglasses?

  • North America is eventually going to figure out that, for all the right reasons, we need more bicycles on our roads. Dust off your bicycle and go cycling. And if the gas-burning dinosaurs start to crowd you, it's your road and you paid for it. Take the lane for yourself.
