The Paris to Ancaster race goes April 17th. The first time I road the race 6 years ago there were about 1,000 riders. This year they have capped registration at 2,500. Oh and t-shirts they use to give 800 away, now no shirts. You want one you pay $15. The cycling jerseys $60 to $119.

For those interested there is a good video of last year's course at: http://www.parisancaster.com/news.html

This truly is a great ride. I hope some day it becomes a "Gran Fondo" with well over 1,000 cyclists hitting the roads in waves.

I did 10 of these in consecutive years, even driving back for one after moving away, just to get my 10th.

Kudos to the organizing team for staying with the event and growing it year after year!

I've been signed up for weeks now. I tell all my out-of-town cycling friends about this event, and most of them sign up as well, when they see the very reasonable price.

This year, I'm trying the 160km for the first time. When you add in the rides to and from Cambridge, I'll be putting in over 200km in a single day. I fully expect to be unable to walk the next morning :)

I know it will be our family’s first bike tour. We have a great new Weehoo for the youngest stoker, and the tandem modified to make it easy for the older stoker to ride. I’m hoping it will be a great introduction to these rides for the rest of the family.

Noticed this new event "Active Cambridge Criterium" its on the same weekend as the Tour de Grand. http://www.cambridgecrit.blogspot.com/
I'm sure this will be a good spectator event as well as a chance for beginners to get some experience.

  • North America is eventually going to figure out that, for all the right reasons, we need more bicycles on our roads. Dust off your bicycle and go cycling. And if the gas-burning dinosaurs start to crowd you, it's your road and you paid for it. Take the lane for yourself.
