With over 300 speakers (that's how many could be slotted into the current program streams), there will be lots of opportunities for learning and networking. We received 380+ presentation abstract submissions.

The ACT Sustainable Mobility Conference which is a Canadian conference on active transportation was just held in Vancouver last month.

The pricing was the same:
http://www.actcanada.com/EN/Conference2011/registration.aspx but more focused on Canadian, abit of international.

The price of this event is too steep for this cycling enthusiast .... tit seems priced for the professional bicycle , especially when you have to pay $75 bucks to register your own bike.

Jean

I believe the $75.00 will be just a deposit.

It is targetted for those who are involved in design of cycling infrastructure, program and policy planning/execution.

The 2010 Copenhagen conference was $1,000CAN for international delegates, regardless of whether or not they were professional full-timers, or not.

The 2012 Canadian Velo-city conference planning team had to negotiate hard not to go over the $995.00CAN with European Cycling Federation who owns the branding rights and other stuff for Velo-city.

Once the scheduling of speakers is set, it would be easier for the conference planning team to consider some external /social events also.

  • North America is eventually going to figure out that, for all the right reasons, we need more bicycles on our roads. Dust off your bicycle and go cycling. And if the gas-burning dinosaurs start to crowd you, it's your road and you paid for it. Take the lane for yourself.
