Totally agree with staying behind large vehicles in most cases. Bill, I would love to have you be part of our defensive driver training classes at GRT. Your wealth of experience on a bicycle would bring a whole new perspective to our drivers. Sounds like a positive step forward.

Sometimes I think it's sad that society needs these sort of "common sense" campaigns (including safe passing of cyclists and don't drink and drive).

Unless a truck/bus is parked, I'd never chance passing one...I seldom pass cars, unless a line up is too long or they leave me enough space to in fact pass.

I'm also not criticizing McMahon for launching this...just find it sad that it needs to be launched in the first place.

Very good advice, and a well made video.

  • North America is eventually going to figure out that, for all the right reasons, we need more bicycles on our roads. Dust off your bicycle and go cycling. And if the gas-burning dinosaurs start to crowd you, it's your road and you paid for it. Take the lane for yourself.
